Why should you become a member of WOMAA?
By becoming a member of the White Oak Martial Arts Association you will have direct access to the teachings of the top Grand Masters in the world, first and foremost WACIMA President, Grand Master Guo Ming (George) Xu. We take these secrets and teach them to you in the Southeastern United States, and then we bring the actual Grand Masters right here to Asheville, NC- providing you with direct exposure to the highest level of Martial Arts Education available in the world. We then provide you with the opportunity to be certified in these teachings.
Do I have to learn a new style or change the style that I currently teach?
It doesn't matter what art you currently do, nor what level you are currently at. We will not ask you to change anything about your existing art, rather we will help you improve your understanding of it with the secrets and principles of the top Grand Masters in the world. We will then bring these Grand Masters to you- right here in Asheville, NC.
If you are a beginner in the Martial Arts, or for whatever other reason do not have an "existing style" we can help you as well.
How much does it cost for me to become a member?
Nothing. You can't buy your way in. There is an application process and some other things that will be required of you. Not everyone who applies will be accepted. Go to the contact us page to ask for an application.
Once you are a member there will be costs related to what you take part in; i.e., seminars, ongoing classes, rank testing and promotion, training resources, etc.
Who can become a member?
School Owners, Instructors, or Students that meet our standards. First, you must attend one of our events so we can meet you in person. Next, you must meet all of the standards set forth by the ASTM F08 Martial Arts Safety Subcommittee. Third, you must request and complete the application form. Fourth, you must pass the board vote unanimously. Once a person has met the first three criteria, the board will take into consideration your moral fiber, personal character, desire to learn, and generally if you fit into our family. Your experience level is not so important- we care more about who and what you are. We take membership very seriously. If you do not, don't apply.
What is required of members?
You will be required to attend one or more of our seminars annually, attend the Grand Master Xu seminar in Asheville annually, and then attempt to put this information into your current curriculum or practice. We will help you as needed. If you are an owner or instructor you will be required to invite your students to our events. Go to www.TheWhiteOakInstitute.com for seminar information.
If you are accepted as a full time student at our official training hall or other official member schools, you are also automatically accepted as a member of this association. To be awarded a Black Belt in Xu Shen Chuan you will be required to meet all standards set forth by your member school, attend at least one of our seminars, and attend at least one Grand Master Xu seminar.

You also get a certificate of membership to post, the right to use our logo on things that pertain to us, and a great deal of credibility in marketing yourself as a Martial Arts Professional with ties to the highest level masters in the world.
Do I get ranks?
Yes, if you would like to follow a formal rank process we do provide belt ranking up to 10th Degree Black Belt. These ranks are awarded based upon how you test out with our principles. Click here to find out more about our curriculum.
There are fees associated with formal rank testing. If you are taking ongoing classes at our official training hall or other member schools You will be required to take part in the formal rank system.
This is recommended and desirable for several reasons, most importantly that you have irrefutable proof to yourself and others that you have been exposed to and have passed an actual exam on the information in Xu Shen Chuan.
